Forged Gear Blank

Forged gear blank is our forged gear preform for gear manufacturing. Compared to cast gear blanks and gear blanks machined directly from bar stock, forged gear blanks offer distinct advantages. Metal flow lines follow the gear profile. Flow lines at the tooth root are continuous without interruption. This significantly improves fatigue resistance.

High-Quality Forged Gear Blanks

Forged gear blank is our forged gear preform for gear manufacturing. Compared to cast gear blanks and gear blanks machined directly from bar stock, forged gear blanks offer distinct advantages. Metal flow lines follow the gear profile. Flow lines at the tooth root are continuous without interruption. This significantly improves fatigue resistance. Forging densifies the internal structure and eliminates casting defects like porosity and shrinkage. Material utilization is also higher. Our forged gear blanks serve automotive transmission gears, construction machinery drive gears, wind turbine gearbox gears, and industrial reducer gears. Customers machine gear teeth on our blanks to produce high-performance finished gears. Every forged gear blank we deliver provides the foundation for reliable gear operation.

Comprehensive Gear Blank Capabilities

Our forged gear blanks cover spur gears, helical gears, bevel gears, and spiral bevel gears. Module range is 1-12. Outer diameter range is Φ50-Φ600mm. Materials include 20CrMnTi, 20CrMo, 40Cr, 42CrMo, and carburizing steel grades. We supply forged gear blanks in normalized or quenched + tempered condition. Normalized condition HB160-220 is suitable for subsequent carburizing + quenching + grinding. Quenched + tempered condition HB240-280 is suitable for subsequent nitriding or induction hardening. Our gear blank outer diameter and end face reference accuracy are high. Outer diameter tolerance is ±0.1mm. End face runout is within 0.03mm. Center bore tolerance is H7. These references ensure high-accuracy tooth cutting.

Metallurgical and Dimensional Quality Control

Quality control for forged gear blanks focuses on material structure, hardness, and reference accuracy. Every batch undergoes metallographic inspection. Normalized structure should be uniform pearlite + ferrite with no coarse grain or banding. Hardness is controlled within a narrow range with deviation within ±15HB. Reference dimensions are inspected with CMM. For automotive transmission gear blanks, we also perform ultrasonic testing (UT) to ensure no forging cracks or folds. Complete material test reports, metallographic reports, hardness distribution reports, and dimensional inspection reports accompany every batch. Standard production is 30-45 days (including mold development). We accept orders starting from 1 piece. Volume customers receive mold cost sharing discounts. If your gear products require high-strength, high-reliability forged blanks, send us your drawing. Our engineers will provide material and process recommendations.
