Safety Standards for Electric Height-Adjustable Desks

When using an electric height-adjustable desk, first ensure that the equipment is installed correctly and the structure is secure. After installation, verify the reliability of connections between the tabletop, frame, lifting columns, and feet, ensuring no bolts or fasteners are loose. Before use, inspect the power cord, control cables, and plugs for damage or loose connections; do not use the desk if any abnormalities are found. Place the desk on a level, stable surface with sufficient surrounding clearance to prevent collisions with walls, cabinets, or other objects during height adjustments.

Pay special attention to safety regarding pinching and collisions during operation. Do not place hands, feet, or other body parts between the tabletop and fixed objects while the desk is moving, and avoid placing crushable items near the lifting columns. Before adjusting the height, check for obstacles above and below the tabletop-paying particular attention to chairs, drawers, computer towers, and power cords underneath. If the desk stutters, tilts, makes abnormal noise, or stops suddenly during operation, cease use immediately and do not attempt to restart the unit until the cause of the malfunction has been identified.

Operate the desk within its specified load capacity; do not overload the tabletop with heavy items to gain storage space. Distribute items evenly across the tabletop to avoid concentrating weight on one side, which could compromise the lifting mechanism and desk stability. For desks equipped with accessories such as monitor arms or CPU holders, include the weight of these accessories and the items they support in the total load calculation. Do not remove safety components-such as limit switches or anti-collision sensors-or modify the structure of the motor, controller, or drive mechanism.

Electrical safety is also a critical aspect of using electric height-adjustable desks. Use a power source that meets specifications and avoid damaged sockets, power cords, or power adapters of questionable quality. Keep the controller, motor, and other electrical components dry; do not allow water to enter these parts or wiring connections during cleaning. If the equipment emits smoke or a burning odor, overheats abnormally, or shows signs of electrical leakage, disconnect the power immediately and stop using the device; do not attempt to disassemble live electrical components for repair. When repairs are required, inspections and servicing should be performed by qualified personnel with the appropriate expertise.

Routine inspections and maintenance should also be carried out during daily use. Periodically check the lifting columns, desk frame, and all connection points for looseness; inspect power and control cables for signs of wear; and monitor the lifting mechanism for smooth operation. If noticeable tabletop wobbling, abnormal lifting speeds, or a lack of synchronization between the left and right columns occurs, stop using the desk immediately and inspect it. The power supply may be turned off when the desk is not in use for extended periods; however, the power must be disconnected before moving, disassembling, or repairing the unit. Operating the desk strictly in accordance with the usage instructions and load-bearing specifications helps minimize safety risks-such as collisions, pinching injuries, and electrical faults-and ensures the long-term, stable operation of the electric lifting desk.
