Castings play a widespread role in daily life, though they often go unnoticed because they are installed inside various pieces of equipment after processing. Common household items and appliances-such as air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, electric fans, and kitchen appliances-frequently incorporate processed castings. Components like internal metal brackets, housings, bases, and connectors often begin as cast blanks before undergoing precision machining processes such as turning, milling, and drilling. This approach ensures the parts possess the necessary strength and stability while meeting the requirements for equipment assembly and operation.

 

Castings are also integral to transportation. Vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, and bicycles utilize a large number of processed castings. Components like engine blocks, transmission housings, brake parts, and certain wheel hubs are often manufactured via casting and then machined to their final dimensions. Precision machining ensures a proper fit between components, thereby guaranteeing vehicle stability and safety during operation. Advances in automotive manufacturing have led to increased use of castings made from lightweight materials like aluminum alloys, helping to reduce vehicle weight and energy consumption.

 

Castings are also common in household hardware and infrastructure. Items such as faucets, valves, pipe fittings, door and window hardware, and furniture connectors are often formed by casting copper alloys, aluminum alloys, or other metals, followed by processes like drilling, threading, turning, and surface finishing. Subsequent machining ensures dimensional accuracy for threads, apertures, and connection points, facilitating easy assembly and use. Additionally, some castings undergo surface treatments-such as plating or coating-to enhance corrosion resistance and aesthetic quality.

 

Castings play a significant role in household machinery and leisure equipment as well. Internal components-such as bases, brackets, housings, and drive parts-in treadmills, fitness equipment, sewing machines, garden tools, and small electric devices often utilize castings. Casting allows for the efficient production of complex shapes, while subsequent machining ensures the precision of mounting holes, shaft bores, and mating surfaces, enabling different components to fit together seamlessly. For components subject to sustained loads, appropriate material selection and processing techniques can also enhance the equipment's durability.

 

Cast components are also widely used in construction and public infrastructure. Examples include pipe valves, fire safety equipment connectors, drainage system components, and certain metal decorative elements, all of which may be manufactured using casting processes. Since these products are often exposed to outdoor or humid environments, they require not only dimensional precision but also excellent corrosion resistance and a long service life. Subsequent machining and surface treatment can further improve the reliability of these components.
